Lago del Desierto (Glaciar Huemul)

Daily departures with return:
8:00 AM from hotel (w/6:00hs wait, available from 15 November to 15 March).
9:30 AM from your hotel (with a 4:30 hr wait).
11:00 AM from your hotel (with a 3:00 hr wait).
Return from Lago del Desierto at 3:50 PM.
Estimated time of arrival to Chaltén is 5:30 PM.

Lago del Desierto is located 37 kilometers from El Chaltén on Route 41. In the area you can access the Huemul Glacier Trail. This is a 2 kilometer round one-way trail of medium difficulty. At the end of the trail, you will arrive at the lagoon and Huemul Glacier viewpoint.
You will need to pay an entrance fee, which is paid on-site, exclusively in cash.
You can also walk along the shores of Lago del Desierto, it takes about 30 minutes (free of charge).
From the pier you can hire boat rides and the tour to the Vespignani Reserve.
